Cachalote Relocation of FPSO Capixaba
Project Summary:
Amine Sweetening Module, 750 Metric Tons
Key Facts:
- This was the first FPSO which was relocated and re-purposed for a new field location, highlighting one of the primary advantages of FPSO’s compared to fixed platform facilities.
- 1 module, 750 metric tons. Due to the existing space constraint on the original FPSO, required a very compact design since this module had to be “fit into” the original FPSO design.
- First Amine Unit completed for VME offshore and first FPSO upgrade project that VME completed. VME was the ideal partner for this project as we had provided the Gas Dehydration and Regeneration package on the original Capixaba FPSO.
- Processing capacity of the Module – 113 MMSCFD (3,200,00 sm3/d)
- Project Ongoing: Completed and successfully operating in the new field.
Client:
Petrobras / SBM Atlantia
Challenge:
SBM / Petrobras elected to re-locate the FPSO to a new field called Cachalote. The new field had a high concentration of H2S in the Gas stream which was not present at the original Capixaba location.
VME Solution:
EPC Modular solution to add an Amine Gas Sweetening Module to the original FPSO. This design solution allowed the new module to be installed on the existing FPSO and reduced H2S to less than 5.0 ppm and achieved an outlet specification of 0.25 vol% of C02. As this module was not part of the original FPSO design there were a lot of space constraints in order to fit this module onto the FPSO.
